Professorship in Translational Gynaecological Oncology and Senology (W2) (f/m/d)

YOUR TASKS

The successful candidate will represent the field of Translational Gynaecology and Senology in research and teaching. This is a professorship without any involvement in patient care, based at the Clinic and Polyclinic for Gynaecology and Gynaecological Oncology (Director: Univ.-Prof. Dr. Florin-Andrei Taran). The appointee is expected to establish their own research group focusing on the tumour micro-environment in gynaecological and other malignancies, and to independently secure third-party funding. Additional responsibilities include teaching and supervising students and doctoral Active engagement existing cancer research initiatives is expected, in particular in the Collaborative Research Centres, the National Centre for Tumour Diseases West, the CANTAR research network, the International Research Training Group 3110, and the Research Unit 2722.

As a rule, the teaching load comprises nine semester hours per week (i.e., two hours per week is one 90-minute course per semester).

YOUR PROFILE

We are seeking an outstanding scientist or clinician-scientist in translational gynaecological oncology and senology (medical doctor or life scientist) with an excellent scientific track record and a strong commitment to teaching. The successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise in the molecular and structural mechanisms of tumour progression and metastasis in cancer in general, and in gynaecological oncology in particular. A willingness to contribute actively to the model degree programme in medicine and other study programmes and graduate initiatives in which the Faculty of Medicine is involved is expected. Beyond the core research area, the appointee will also teach in all degree programmes offered by the department. Relevant publications must be provided. Furthermore, active participation in joint research activities of the faculty and in academic self-governance is expected. Candidates must have achievements in research and teaching equivalent to a habilitation.
