The University of Cologne is one of the oldest and largest universities in Germany. The position is based in the Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences (“WiSo-Faculty”), which is consistently top ranked in research and teaching.


YOUR TASKS
The professorship in Economics (W2, tenured) is part of the Cluster of Excellence „ECONtribute: Markets & Public Policy“, which is jointly run by the Universities of Cologne and Bonn and funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) within the framework of the Excellence Strategy (https://econtribute.de/). The Cluster provides a dynamic, collaborative and international research environment for understanding market functioning and failures, as well as public policy responses, using innovative research approaches.
The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the overall research agendas of the Cluster and the WiSo- Faculty and engage in the management of the Cluster and the academic administration of the WiSo-Faculty.
The professorship will be based in the Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences of the University of Cologne and the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to excellence in teaching in the WiSo-Faculty’s programmes.

The position is available from July 2026 or based on mutual agreement. Formal requirements are detailed in Section 36 of the Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia (Hochschulgesetz – HG NRW). As a rule, the teaching load comprises nine semester hours per week (i.e., two hours per week is one 90-minute course per semester).
