We offer a student assistant position (5-10 hours a week, contract duration: 12 months) in the Self-Learning Systems Lab at the University of Cologne. As part of the funded project, we aim to implement existing computational models of reading and make them available to all researchers. You will be working in a young and interdisciplinary team (psychologists, educators, linguists).
Tasks:
Finding and reproducing code of existing models
Testing model output against human data
Programming a web app where researchers can simulate data
Participation in lab meetings
Attendance & presentations at conferences and workshops (optional)
Co-authorship on any resulting publications
Requirements:
Programming skills in Python (experience with web programming desirable)
Ability to work independently
Studies (ongoing or completed bachelor) in computational linguistics, cognitive science, or a comparable field
Interest in cognitive modelling
Fluency in English (German desirable)
Ability to perform tasks on campus at the University of Cologne (desirable)
