Dein Job

The Institute of Logistics Engineering (ITL) at Hamburg University of Technology focuses on the development and scientific investigation of innovative technical systems and process solutions for intralogistics. Within this context, we conduct research on the development and application of robotic systems for future applications in technical logistics. A current focus is on humanoid robots as well as the development of methods for data collection and the training of learning-based robotic systems. The position offers the opportunity to work hands-on with modern robotic systems, including humanoid robots, and to use them in practical experiments. To support our work in this area, we are looking for a Student Research Assistant (hours flexible) to join us at the earliest possible date. The position requires regular on-site work at the institute.

Tasks:

  • Investigate and develop methods for data collection for humanoid robotic systems
  • Support the integration, setup, commissioning and further development of robotic systems
  • Conduct and support experiments for data collection using robots
  • Work with motion capture and VR systems for recording human movements and robot teleoperation
  • Investigate and evaluate methods for training learning-based robotic models
  • Support the development and further improvement of software components based on ROS2
  • Contribute to the development and evaluation of robotic applications for future applications in technical logistics

Requirements:

  • Student of engineering, computer science or a comparable field (e.g. mechatronics)
  • Strong interest in robotics, particularly humanoid robots and learning-based robotic systems
  • Good knowledge of at least one programming language, e.g. Python and/or C++
  • Basic knowledge of and ideally practical experience with Robot Operating System 2 (ROS2)
  • Interest in data collection, motion capture, teleoperation and machine learning
  • Independent, structured and careful way of working
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and work on current research topics
