European XFEL is an international non-profit company located in the Hamburg area in Germany. It operates a 3.4 km-long X-ray laser, which produces X-rays of unique quality for studies in physics, chemistry, the life sciences, materials research and other disciplines. The diverse scientific facilities at European XFEL enable scientists from across the globe to carry out a wide range of experimental techniques.

 

For our IT&Data Management group we are looking for an

Student Assistant for IT Support (f/m/d)

 

The Position

  • Assist with installation, confguration, maintenance and upgrading of computer hardware and software
  • Help in the deployment of replacement computers necessitated by security protocols and compliance standards
  • Oversee inventory management and support responsible disposal of obsolete IT hardware
  • Provide first-level IT assistance to staff and guests in a courteous and efficient manner

 

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor or Master Degree program related to the IT field (Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science and similar disciplines)
  • Knowledge of Windows operating systems, including troubleshooting and system management
  • Good communication skills in English, both written and verbal
  • Readiness to work up to 39 hours per week during the semester break, and 20 hours during the semester

Compensation & long-term security

  • Salary range: min. 2/2 with 2,975.32€  - max. 3/2 with 3,164.20€ (these values refer to a working time of 39 hours a week in full time and will be adjusted according to the part-time model), the actual level is defined by the individual university enrollment (Bachelor's or Master's degree), here is the link to the current valid tariff table.
  • Depending on the pay group, we offer an annual special payment of 75-95% of one month’s salary.

  • Generous company pension scheme (6.45% of your monthly salary)
