European XFEL is an international non-profit company located in the Hamburg area in Germany. It operates a 3.4 km-long X-ray laser, which produces X-rays of unique quality for studies in physics, chemistry, the life sciences, materials research and other disciplines. The diverse scientific facilities at European XFEL enable scientists from across the globe to carry out a wide range of experimental techniques.
For our X-Ray Photon Diagnostics group we are looking for a
The Position
Development of software tools for analysis of measurement data from the photon diagnostic devices.
Support data analysis with the objective of characterizing the X-ray beam and calculate SASE spectral information based on the acquired data.
Support group with hardware and cable assembly.
Active participation in the commissioning and beamtimes with the photon diagnostics group.
Supporting various development activities in the photon diagnostics lab.
Requirements
Enrolled in a Bachelor or Master Degree program in physics, computer science, engineering or similar discipline.
Capable of writing computer programs for data processing and analysis. Experience in Python language.
Fluent in spoken and written English. German language is not required.
Strong communication skills and interest in working in a collaborative environment
Knowledge about analogue electronics and/or micro-controller programming would be an asset.
Availability to work from European XFEL's offices for most of the working hours.

Salary range: min. 2/2 with 2,975.32€ - max. 3/2 with 3,164.20€ (these values refer to a working time of 39 hours a week in full time and will be adjusted according to the part-time model), the actual level is defined by the individual university enrollment (Bachelor's or Master's degree), here is the link to the current valid tariff table
Depending on the pay group, we offer an annual special payment of 75-95% of one month’s salary.
