Participants Wanted for a Study on Emotional Reactions - Göttingen

We are looking for participants for a laboratory study on emotional reactions and social interaction.

For a scientific study at the Georg-Elias-Mueller Institute of Psychology at the University of Göttingen, we are seeking adult participants aged 18 and over.

In this study, we investigate how people respond to emotional facial expressions in different social situations.

What to expect: You will complete a computer-based task in which you respond quickly and accurately to emotional facial expressions by moving a small figure toward or away from people displayed on the screen. During the task, small sensors attached to your face will noninvasively measure facial muscle activity. You will also complete a short questionnaire at the end of the study.

The study is conducted entirely in English.

Duration: Approximately 60–70 minutes

Location:

Historische Sternwarte, Geismar Landstraße 11, 37083 Göttingen. 

Compensation: Participant hours (for Psychology students) or monetary compensation at a rate of €13.90 per hour.

Participation requirements:

• You are at least 18 years old.

• You have sufficient English proficiency to understand the task instructions.

• You have normal or corrected-to-normal vision.

• You are not currently undergoing acute psychiatric treatment.

• You do not have facial hair that would prevent the placement of sensors on the face.

Participation is voluntary. You can withdraw at any time without giving a reason and without any disadvantages.
