A W3 professorship in "Programming Languages" is available at the University of Stuttgart in the Faculty of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, and Information Technology. The professorship will be part of the Institute of Software Engineering (ISTE). We are looking for an individual who can represent the entire range of programming languages in research and teaching, is internationally recognized in research, and complements the existing expertise in the institute. For example, expertise in one or more of the following topics is desirable, but all other topics from the area of programming languages are also welcome:

- Program analyses and/or formal verification

- Programming lanuages, e.g., for AI-based Systems, probabilisitic programming, quantum- or HPC-applications

- Compiler and runtime environments

The ideal candidate can relate to some of the profile areas of the university, such as quantum technology, simulation science, architecture and adaptive building, digital humanities, and production technology, as well as to existing multi-PI initiatives, such ELLIS, IMPRS-IS, Cyber Valley, and AISA.

The prospective professor is expected to contribute to teaching, in particular, within our Software Engineering degree and through introductory courses, both in German and English, in the Faculty's Bachelor's and Master's degree programs, as well as to actively solicit external funding and to participate in collaborative research projects at the university.

We are seeking an individual who has demonstrated outstanding, internationally visible scientific achievements in programming languages.

For a qualitative assessment of your academic accomplishments, we kindly ask you to submit a short description of your three most important scientific achievements, which should be no longer than one page in total. Possible accomplishments include, for example, those in the fields of research, teaching, science and society, knowledge and technology transfer, inventions and patents, software development, and spin-offs.
