The Chair of International Economic Policy (Prof. Dr. Krisztina Kis-Katos) at the University of Göttingen is looking for   
 

2 Student Research Assistants (f/m/d)

(20 hours per month)

 

with interest in applied empirical work and data science for the DFG-funded project “Poverty dynamics and sustainable development: A long-term panel project in Thailand and Vietnam” as well as for general chair-related research activities. You should have a genuine interest in Development Economics and International Economics and be able to work independently, flexibly and self-organized.

 

Dein Profil

Tasks:

  • Support ongoing research projects (data collection, cleaning, and management in Stata and possibly R; questionnaire development)
  • Assist in preparing academic publications (literature reviews, proofreading)
  • Help with administrative tasks, including updating teaching materials and website content
  • Depending on the project, tasks may also involve data science (e.g., machine learning, spatial data analysis)

 

Requirements:

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor’s/ Master’s program in Economics, Statistics, Data Science, Geography or similar
  • Good or very good grades
  • Fluency in English is required; knowledge of German is desirable
  • Computer skills and familiarity with MS Office software are required
  • At least basic knowledge of statistical software packages (preferably Stata)
  • Additional skills in spatial data, machine learning, R, LaTeX, Python or Linux are an advantage

  • Hourly pay according to standard wage based on the guidelines of the state of Lower Saxony through the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture
  • The possibility of a longer-term employment, ideally starting in October 2025

 

The Chair of International Economic Policy is a small, diverse team researching and teaching topics in globalization, political economy, development, and environmental economics, with a focus on applied empirical work using secondary data (e.g., survey and geographical data).
