We are seeking a dedicated and qualified Secondary School Computer Science Teacher (m/f/d) with experience teaching Computer Science and Information Technology at the secondary school level to join our dynamic and forward-thinking educational institution. The successful candidate will inspire students to develop their digital skills, computational thinking, and enthusiasm for technology in a supportive and engaging learning environment.
The teacher will be expected to create and deliver engaging lessons that captivate students' interest and foster a deep understanding of the core concepts. This encompasses not only conveying theoretical knowledge but also applying innovative teaching methodologies to cultivate critical thinking skills and real-world applicability.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality teaching and ensure effective learning outcomes for all secondary school students.
Take responsibility for students' progress, well-being, and success in external exams (IGCSE/IB DP).
Engage students in positive enabling relationships that foster a conducive learning environment.
Incorporate the latest technological developments into student experiences, keeping the curriculum relevant and engaging.
Maintain an up-to-date knowledge and understanding of the professional duties of teachers.
Implement school policies and practices, with a focus on safeguarding and equal opportunity.
Qualifications & Experience:
A relevant university degree in Computer Science, Computer Science Education, Information Technology, or a related field. A formal teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, PGDip, BEd, MEd, Qualified Teacher Status, or equivalent) is desirable but not essential for suitable early-career applicants.
A strong interest in teaching and learning, with a genuine enthusiasm for supporting and inspiring secondary school students.
Knowledge of the IGCSE and/or IB Diploma Programme (IB DP) is desirable. Relevant training or a willingness to develop knowledge of these curricula will also be considered.
Strong programming skills in Python are required; knowledge of Java is desirable.
Previous experience teaching IB DP Computer Science is an advantage, but applications from graduates and early-career teachers with a strong academic background in Computer Science are encouraged.
Experience working in an international school or multicultural educational environment is desirable.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and engage students with different levels of experience and ability.
A reflective, adaptable, and student-centered approach to teaching, with the ability to remain calm and constructive in challenging situations.
A willingness to participate in professional development and ongoing training and to contribute actively to the wider life of the school.
