The research group Experimental Vascular Medicine at the Clinic for Vascular and Endovascular Surgery and the Institute of Anatomy I at the Heinrich Heine University Medical Center of Duesseldorf invites applicants for a PhD student position.
In the funded project (Forschungskommission of the Medical faculty of the Heinrich-Heine University) we intend to study the activation and aggregation of thrombocytes from birds. The results will be compared to those from mammalian platelets of murine and human origin. Furthermore, the role of thrombocytes in adult neurogenesis in birds should be analyzed. The study includes different in vitro experiments and verification in birds, such as pigeons and different wild birds and will be in close collaboration with the Max Planck Institute of Animal Behavior in Radolfzell.
After an initial period of training, the PhD candidate should work independently and self-motivated. A FELASA certificate is appreciated but not mandatory.
Handicapped applicants will be preferentially considered in case of equivalent qualification. Salary according to TV-L. The position is already available. Therefore, begin of the project should be timely.
Applications should include a short CV, certificates, and names and addresses of one-two references and send preferably by E-Mail to:
margitta.elvers@med.uni-duesseldorf.de and julia.mehlhorn@hhu.de.
We are looking for an accomplished, highly motivated and career oriented young scientist, preferably with a strong interest in cell/molecular biology in the field of cardiovascular disease and neuroscience.
