Searching for postdocs and PhD students interested in researching information-based attacks on the internet and/or the impact of machine learning on the criminal justice system (m/f/x)

The lab's focus is on adversarial threats to digital information. We investigate how information is manipulated online and how machine learning contributes to and helps mitigate this manipulation. We study information-based attacks, algorithmic integrity, and adversarial machine learning, with the goal of restoring trust in digital information flows. Ideal candidates have a degree in computer science or a related field with a background in machine learning and/or cybersecurity and a strong interest in either online information threats, such as bots and disinformation, or the role of ML in justice and governance, such as bias in ML-based systems. Please feel free to reach out directly if you have any questions about the position.

The fundamental research about how information is manipulated online and how machine learning contributes to and helps mitigate this manipulation is one of the main aspects. Researching information-based attacks on the internet and/or the impact of machine learning on the criminal justice system is another aspect for our research work.
