About Novolto

Novolto is a Berlin-based startup developing smart solutions that help households use their solar energy for hot water. Our work brings together physical products, software and energy management to make better use of surplus solar electricity.

As a small team, we work closely together across product development, production, sales and daily operations. Ideas can quickly become practical projects, and everyone contributes to moving the company forward.

We’re looking for an intern who wants to apply their studies, take responsibility and experience the different sides of building a startup. Whether your background is in engineering, software development or marketing, you’ll contribute to projects in your field while working directly with our founder and CEO.

About the role

The internship combines specialist projects with founder support and everyday startup operations, with an approximate 50/50 split.

Your specialist focus will depend on your skills, interests and our current projects. You aren’t expected to cover every discipline—we’re looking for someone who brings strengths in one area and is willing to get involved across the business.

Key responsibilities

Projects in your field

Depending on your background, your work could include:

  • Engineering and production: supporting product assembly and testing, improving production processes and preparing technical documentation.
  • Software development: contributing to websites, internal tools, integrations or product software.
  • Marketing and e-commerce: improving online stores, creating content and supporting sales channels and international expansion.

Founder support and startup operations

Alongside your specialist projects, you will:

  • Support team with research, coordination and follow-up on ongoing tasks.
  • Help with sales activities and customer enquiries.
  • Prepare and ship orders, process returns and support daily product handling.
  • Help organise office activities and improve the way we work.
  • Take ownership of practical tasks that keep the business running.

A day at Novolto

Your day might combine progress on a software feature, a production improvement or a marketing project with preparing customer orders and researching a topic for our team.

You’ll see how decisions in one part of the business affect another—from developing a product to presenting it online and getting it into a customer’s hands. The role suits someone who enjoys variety and is comfortable balancing focused project work with routine responsibilities.

Basic qualifications:

  • Currently studying engineering, computer science, marketing, business or a related field.
  • Available for a full-time, six-month internship starting in February 2027.
  • Confident communicating in written and spoken English.
  • Organised, reliable and willing to take responsibility for your work.
  • Comfortable with practical tasks and working closely with a small team.

Preferred qualifications:

  • A mandatory internship requirement as part of your studies.
  • Relevant university projects, personal projects or practical experience in your chosen area.
  • Interest in renewable energy, smart technology or entrepreneurship.
  • A proactive approach to solving problems and learning new skills.
  • German language skills are a plus, but are not required.

Applicants seeking a voluntary internship are also welcome.

What we offer

  • Practical experience in a Berlin startup working on solar energy solutions.
  • Projects shaped around your strengths, interests and the needs of the business.
  • Direct collaboration with the founder and insight into how the company operates.
  • Opportunities to contribute ideas and take ownership of meaningful work.
  • A paid internship. Compensation will be discussed individually, taking into account the internship type and applicable requirements.
