IntCDC - Integrative Computational Design and Construction for Architecture
The Cluster of Excellence IntCDC at the University of Stuttgart is a leading research centre in the field of architecture, engineering and construction. IntCDC’s interdisciplinary team of over 175 scientists from the University of Stuttgart, the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems and Bauhaus Earth researches the methodological foundations for the urgently needed, future-proof and climate-positive transformation of the way buildings are designed and constructed.

The Institute for Computational Design and Construction at the University of Stuttgart is now building its team for IntCDC’s next round of research projects and invites applications for multiple open positions:
· RESEARCH ASSOCIATE: DOCTORAL RESEARCHER (E13 TVL)
We are looking for multiple motivated researchers in the following research areas:
o Advanced computational design methods
o Cyber-physical robotic fabrication and construction
o Human-robot Collaboration in construction
o Digital timber construction
o Fibre composites in architecture
We expect you to have:
o A master’s degree in architecture, engineering and/or computer science
o Previous experience of conducting research in one of the research areas listed above
o Expertise in advanced computational design methods and/or digital fabrication processes
o Alternatively, strong design skills and several years of experience in architectural practice
o A high level of motivation, team spirit and interest in interdisciplinary work
o A strong ability to work independently
o Excellent English language skills
o Strong programming skills are beneficial
We offer you to:
o Conduct doctoral research in the Cluster of Excellence IntCDC in direct collaboration with our interdisciplinary research partners in the research areas outlined above
o Contribute to the development of the Cluster’s building demonstrators
o Instruct master theses and teach courses in topics related to your research as part of the international ITECH MSc programme
o Take part in the exciting phase of new IntCDC research projects and join the unique research environment of the Cluster
o Participate in the development of IntCDC’s large-scale fabrication laboratory and cyber-physical construction site
The expected start date for all positions is as soon as possible but can be arranged to meet individual requirements.
