The Max Planck Institute currently has an immediate opportunity for a bachelor’s or master’s student who is enrolled at a university in Germany and interested in working around 8 hours per week as a student assistant for Dr. Philipp Golka on his research project “Climate Crisis and Wealth Inequality: Towards a Sociology of Asset Stranding.”
You will work at a renowned research institute in an international environment. You will have access to the MPIfG’s data and library resources and the opportunity to participate in events organized by the Institute. As part of a fixed-term employment contract (WissZeitVG), we offer remuneration in accordance with the Max Planck Society’s guidelines on support for junior scientists; the current rates are 13.08 euros per hour for bachelor’s students and 13.56 euros per hour for master’s students.
Your role:
Empirical data collection (mainly qualitative)
Researching relevant literature
Assisting with qualitative data analysis
Your background and skills:
Relevant course of study in sociology or a comparable discipline
Interested in climate issues
Experience in economic sociology or political economy is welcome but not mandatory
Experience with qualitative research is preferred
Strong English language skills (reading, writing, speaking)
Ability to work independently and with attention to detail
