Dein Job

Do you know how campus life for international students at TU Darmstadt could be made more diverse, accessible, and welcoming?
Would you like to take initiative, realise your own project and gain valuable practical experience?

Then submit your project idea and become an active part of positive change!

What’s it about?

This call supports one student-led project that promotes diversity and inclusion, and is specifically aimed at international students or benefits them.

The project should be feasible within 12 months, with a low-threshold, realistic, and impactful approach.

Promoting diversity and inclusion means projects that aim to remove barriers, enable participation, and strengthen community and social cohesion, especially for international students who experience structural disadvantage. This may include, for example:

  • Students with disabilities or chronic illnesses
  • First-generation students
  • LGBTIQ* students
  • Refugee students
  • Students with care responsibilities
  • Other marginalised groups

Intersectional perspectives – i.e. the overlapping of multiple dimensions of disadvantage – should also be considered. The idea of community is central: your project may strengthen a sense of belonging, provide orientation, or create spaces for exchange.

What you’ll receive:

If your idea is selected, you will be offered a student assistant contract (HiWi) with the International Student Services.

You will independently carry out your project – from planning and development to implementation – with ongoing support from the Inclusion Officer for international students at TU Darmstadt.

You will also receive:

  • Access to a workplace and technical infrastructure (e.g. project software, university email address, secure data storage)
  • Regular feedback, professional input and guidance
  • Support in networking with relevant university departments and contacts
  • A small budget, which can be used for project-related expenses in coordination with the Inclusion Officer

Dein Profil

 What we expect:

  • Enrolled at TU Darmstadt during the project period
  • Reliable, self-directed project work in coordination with the supervising unit
  • A brief initial report, a mid-term update, and a final report (potentially for internal and external communication)
  • Support during key events run by the International Student Services (e.g. Kick-Off Days, X-Weeks)

How to apply:

Please submit a brief project outline (max. 2.5 pages) including the following points:

  1. Target group – Who will benefit?
  2. Aims & impact – What change do you hope to achieve?
  3. Implementation & timeline – What are your steps? What resources will you need?
  4. Estimated working hours per month
  5. Motivation – Why is this project important to you, and why are you the right person to carry it out?

Additional application materials:

  • CV
  • Current certificate of enrolment at TU Darmstadt

Project selection will be based on feasibility, relevance, potential impact, and alignment with the needs of international students.

After reviewing all applications, selected candidates will be invited to a brief interview. The final funding decision will be made afterwards.

Applicants with a recognised disability (degree of disability 50 or equivalent) will be given preference if equally qualified.

Applications from students who have experienced marginalisation and/or discrimination are explicitly welcome – their perspectives are essential for meaningful, lasting change.
